These Terms and Conditions govern use of the website rilockandkeys.com and any locksmith services provided by RI Lock and Keys (“Company”, “we”, “our”). By using our Site or booking service (phone, web form, or walk-in), you agree to these terms.

1. Who we are

RI Lock and Keys is a licensed and insured locksmith serving Rhode Island. Storefront hours are 10:00–20:00 and mobile service is available 24/7 subject to technician availability and traffic.

2. Quotes, pricing & invoices

  • Up-front estimates: We provide a written or texted estimate before work begins. Final price may change if the scope differs from the original description (e.g., higher security hardware, anti-theft systems, damaged locks, or additional keys).
  • Itemized invoices: At completion you will receive an itemized invoice showing labor, parts, taxes/fees, trip or after-hours surcharges where applicable.
  • Payment: Payment is due upon completion. We accept common payment methods listed on the invoice/receipt.

3. Verification & lawful service

For any opening, rekey, master-keying, or key generation, we verify photo ID and proof of ownership or authorization (e.g., vehicle registration/insurance card, lease, deed, work order, or written authorization). We may refuse service where lawful proof cannot be provided.

4. Service scope & workmanship

  • Technicians use non-destructive methods when feasible. In certain scenarios (severe damage, high-security hardware, emergency entry) destructive methods may be required; consent will be requested when practical.
  • Removed or replaced parts become our property unless otherwise agreed before work begins.
  • Warranty: 90-day workmanship warranty on labor; manufacturer warranties apply to parts. Misuse, vandalism, weather, or pre-existing damage are excluded.

5. Automotive anti-theft systems

Some vehicles include immobilizer, transponder, or smart-key systems that can fail or require additional programming steps, modules, or codes. Extra charges may apply for programming, precoding, EEPROM/bench work, or parts. Battery, wiring, ECU/BCM faults, or prior modifications may prevent programming; diagnosis fees may apply.

6. Appointments, cancellations & no-shows

  • Arrival windows are estimates and depend on distance, traffic, weather, and prior jobs.
  • Same-day cancellations after dispatch or customer no-shows may incur a minimum service or trip fee.

7. Customer responsibilities

  • Provide accurate address/location and safe access to the work area.
  • Disclose any known issues with locks, doors, safes, or vehicle systems before work begins.
  • Retain copies of invoices and IDs for warranty or insurance purposes.

8. Limitations of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including lost profits or data). Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service at issue.

9. Content, IP & acceptable use (website)

  • Website content is owned by RI Lock and Keys or its licensors. You may not copy, scrape, or redistribute content without permission.
  • You agree not to misuse the Site (e.g., spam, malicious code, automated scraping, or attempts to gain unauthorized access).

10. Third-party links & tools

The Site may link to third-party sites, map embeds, payment processors, or scheduling tools. We are not responsible for third-party content or policies. Your use of those services is governed by their terms.

11. Privacy

Our use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Site or booking service, you consent to that policy.

12. Refunds & returns

Because locksmith services are performed on-site and tailored to the specific lock or vehicle, labor is non-refundable once performed. Defective parts will be repaired or replaced under applicable warranty.

13. Force majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., extreme weather, accidents, power/network outages, supplier issues).

14. Governing law & venue

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island. Exclusive venue for any dispute shall be in state or federal courts located in Rhode Island, unless small-claims rules apply.

15. Updates to these terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes take effect upon posting the revised version on this page. The “Effective date” above shows when last updated.
